[RC] Biltmore Ride on the 25th - sangel15Hello all....per Susan Kain the Biltmore Mount'n Hopes ride scheduled for September 25 on the Biltmore Estate has been cancelled due to the severe flooding from Hurricane Frances. The damage to the estate, the barns, the lower pastures as well as the trails are significant. The lower pastures where we usually camp were under about 10 ft of water initially and took over a week to go down. Some of the area is still under water and Hurricane Ivan will do even more damage due to the saturation and the high water level of the French Broad River. Susan is trying to get sanctioning for November 20 but that is still under consideration. To all in the path of Ivan prayers are with you. Those of you near Asheville, consider joining us locals in the clean up of the trails after the weather has settled down.
