[RC] Injecting Hocks - Ridecamp GuestPlease Reply to: Tess Searcy morabs@xxxxxxxxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== I just went through this myself with my 22 year old. He was only slightly short in the rear. Of course arthritis is suspect & the vets wanted to do a whole series of xrays, exams & stuff. I had just completed a 55 miler, so I knew what hock was having problems, he is 22 so what is new that you would expect to see on an xray. To make the story short, I did have his hock injected, then we do Adequan once a month. He is doing fine, somedays hill riding gets to him, but he has no swelling & no noticeable pain other than sometimes he is short strided on that side. I have started him on MD's Choice, several Endurance people recommend it, so you should check it out. The bottom line is the horse can still be used, I too thought my riding days with my best buddy were over. You may have to change his work a bit to accomadate him. If you have any more questions you can email me privately, I'd be happy to talk to you.
