RE: [RC] [RC] The End of the World, Final - Laurie DurginGlad your family and critters are ok. -Just to let you know not only is FL get hurricane effects. When Opal hit here (70 mph winds) , just outside (was then)Atlanta metro, We lost power for 10 days! That was before we bought a gernerator. Anyone who lives in the SE in rural areas and has a well and is on the end of the power grid(read , not subdivision) needs a generator or a water source. You need one just big enough for the essentials , well, refriderator and a few lights and the microwave. We ended up take 'baths' in the 24 foot swimming pool, and stringing up clotheslines. Or have relatives you can go live with or enough money to move into a motel, but then there are the animals.... Now Howard since you moving to Tn. You will meet up with "ice storms" where lines go down, roads don't get cleared till the sun heats them up , and everyone buys up the bread. You may also need a heat source as it gets cold fast with no heat in ice storms. We have a woodstove and always keep 3 days of wood to make it thru April --in case. And this last storm we lost power for 15 hours, and I am really no longer in the country, it is all subdivisons swallowing us....
