I actually picked
up the Genghis Khan "fact" from "Genghis Khan and the Mongol Empire", Jean-Paul
Roux, Discoveries/Harry N. Abrams. I put quotes around "fact" because I don't
think anyone really knows his date of birth and so his age wouldn't be certain,
and the book is mostly art and not footnoted, but the author is professor
emeritus of Islamic Art at the Ecole du Louvre and has some other academic
credits.
I'm keeping up on
my calcium supplements in hopes of surviving those future falls intact, but on
the other hand if you've got to go, going on horseback is the way to
go.

horsenews
Mike, These are pretty good stories, I am sure a Paso magazine would love
to publish and perhaps Trail Blazer or some such magazine. If I might
suggest, some sort of date entry for each ride. Your adjectives are
wonderful, refreshing and very inviting. Is this the first "horsenews" or
did I miss others?
I did not know about Gengis Khan, I will research further as now I am
interested, however, I do know that many a man has loved riding so much and up
into the very final years has been coaxed by loved ones to stop. Several
aged polo players I have known have been told by the USPA that they are a danger
on the field, no fear, they just took up some other equestrian pursuit.
