Re: [RC] PoundHorses/Mustangs - Karen SullivanPlease Reply to: Jeanne Pepper pepperja@xxxxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== He's not a BLM but a registered Kiger born in captivity from 2 wild(BLM) horses. The twist here is that I know his sire,Steen's Vaquero, who only one yr after being captured (at 2yrs old)was winning at open & mustang shows in reining, working cow, hunter hack etc, which said to me this colt HAD a pedigree, mustang or not. *I am going to throw in my two cents worth and say that I have seen Steens Vaquero up close and personal and in performance several weeks ago at Dressage in the Wine Co in Santa Rosa, Ca.....and he is most impressive. Just great bone, conformation, feet and very friendly and personable...calm....yet performing manuvers the older more experienced dressage horses were doing.....and he is only 7. He was also going around the warm up arena with all kinds of confusion.....on a loose rein. Unlike some of the other horses there, he actually looks like one that can go out and negotiate rough terrain. By comparison, some gals were riding Friesans saddle seat around the arena, soft footing, etc. One threw a shoe......we saw it later...just an incredibly huge and heavy item.....big wedge, etc. I am just not impressed by a breed that needs a shoe to go around an arena with good footing and can't hang on to the shoe...... BTW, there were no Arabs as Dressage in the Wine Co., except for a breed demo of a Shagya Arab stallion, who was handled on a lead.....and not terrible well behaved either.......
