[RC] RE:cinch irritation - Jonni JewellWhat the heck do you handle riding in the cold, wet, mucky, muddy winter, let's say you do a really long ride in the rain and come back with a wool cinch soaked with sweat, mud and manure.....and gosh darn, you have another horse to ride that day or one tomorrow......just have a lot of cinches to be able to swap until the first one dries out? How long does that take in the winter?<<< I use leather. Both my western cinch, and english girths are leather. Funny that it is not as common to use a leather cinch on western type saddles, as it is to use leather on english girths (which is common place for the most part). They clean up almost as easy as neoprene. I can hose them off, then put on leather conditioner once and awhile. They breathe some, where Neoprene does not, and no problems with pinched skin between the strings on the wool girths (which I had with one horse). Oh, and they don't gather debris, stickers and such like "fuzzy" material does. Spend the money and buy a good one. I have one western leather cinch that is about 20 years old, and still in use.
