[RC] Feedlots and Auctions - Ridecamp GuestPlease Reply to: Belinda Romanuski bj3romanuski@xxxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== Hi. I am enjoying reading this thread. We have 13 horses and all have come from auctions. We do not ride endurance, but just trail ride. Sure we have had a few that we resold at the auctions, but we have also had great horses that we have resold to other homes and are doing great. One woman that we know purchased one of Khemosabi's last daughters for $250 from an auction. She does have internal problems from an infection so she will never be able to carry a foal, but she is very rideable. Buying from auctions, you have to be able to evaluate the horse after you have them and be prepared to resell if it does not work out. Alot of the horses run through have been neglected and underfed for a while. It is not the horses fault. Last month we purchased an Arab gelding for $50, and that included the saddle he was ridden with. Sure he is walking skeleton, but such a sweet disposiion, and great legs and feet. In a few months we will put him under saddle and try him out. It is a heart breaker to see what these grand animals are reduced to.
