Also,
the book "How to Raise a Puppy You Can Live With" by Rutherford and Neil is a
great one!

Puppies/horseshoes/ circulation
Howard; Condolances to you and your wife on the loss of your good dog. I
know how that feels. If you needed a puppy character reference, you could
have put me down. They never would have found me, cause I'm to be
located at the back of some pack of endurance riders, leading the horse with
the missing right front shoe. I'd be there about once a month. Because
here in California, there doesn't seem to be a single ride without fifty
million sharp rocks. The argument about whether or not the horse shoe
cuts off circulation doesn't matter either way to me, because if you attempt
Tevis, or Swanton, or Sunland, or many others barefoot, you'll get about two
miles before your horse's hoof is crumbling away before your eyes. ( At
least ALL of my horses, maybe other people have hooves of steel on
theirs) If we had the luxury of going to a ride with nice sandy beaches
and stuff like where you live, that would be fun for a change too!
