[RC] my first endurance ride? - Sharlene Roberts-CaudleOkay, Ride Campers--I'm a slow starter. I've been more or less lurking on this list since '98 or '99, finally going to enter my first ride--the Lake Oroville Vista Nov. 6. I've only been to one ride, this year's Tevis Cup. (I tend to do a lot of research before diving into things. When I was pregnant 28 years ago, I immediately went to the library and checked out 10 books about pregnancy. At one office where I worked the partner said, "Give it to Sharlene, she'll research it to death.") Is there anyone out there who is willing to give me specific practical pointers on this ride? I've read the archived stories of the first ride in '99. Hoping things are better for a first-timer. I'm about 5 hours from Lake Oroville, so it looks like a good choice to me. The terrain will be similiar to my home environment. My "crew" is virgin, though, as am I, and anything on or off this list would certainly be welcomed. The area I have for training rides is "to die for," we have everything that you could want from 2 miles climbing 1000', to long rolling stretches of country. I have a lot of mental information, but no one to check with on what I'm doing with my horse. Thanks in advance--the folks on this list may be cantankorous but I'm impressed by their helpfulness and caring for the horses. Sharlene __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Y!
