Re: [RC] cellphones on trail - heidiIf I did have my cell with me during a ride it would be for those purposes only. When I carry it with me I turn it OFF, so I do not take calls while riding (and also save my battery) but have if if I need to make a call. Given the nature of our sport, that's why it doesn't make sense to be specific and outlaw cell phones or such, but rather to leave the rule written the way it is. Although it is difficult to enforce as such, people who habitually cheat in such a way (I've known of only one rider/crew that was blatant about this) usually do end up getting caught sooner or later, and if not censured by AERC, at least censured by other riders who don't care to see the rules broken. It is my observation that the majority of riders DO try to follow the spirit of the rules.
