Re: [RC] [RC] Electronic Communication on Trail? - Maggie MieskeSomehow I never saw this as an issue that involved "cheating" or trying to gain an advantage...the use I have seen of cell phones and gps radios is for reporting important information (such as "The creek rose to 3 feet last night from the rain...maybe need to reroute the 25 milers" which did happen at Pyramid Challenge in 2003 and "Hey, where the heck am I? It's raining and cold, can you have some hot coffee for me at the next pit stop?" or something along that line) and not to mention that there are those times when a rider IS in trouble for whatever reason and has no way to relay this information to his/her crew or ride management. I just don't see it as a problem. And Nancy is right...anyone can find out what their "position" is in the ride by asking the timer or having their crew check or keep track or whatever. That's not cheating or gaining an advantage.
