I agree 100% :) My 4 yr old is currently 14.1h, and should top out at around 14.2h - perfect! I'm 5'4 1/2 (don't forget that 1/2" LOL) with a bad knee, and anything over 15h is hard for me to get on. My current horse is 15.2h...I need a mounting block to get on, and don't dare dismount on the trail unless there's a log nearby or a ditch to put him in. The dang stirrup is at my belly button when I'm standing next to him! I love him to death, but I *would* like to cut him off at the knees! As someone else mentioned, having the depth and width of body is important too...my youngster has nice well-sprung ribs and a deep heart girth. He might be short by some peoples standards, but he's got plenty of substance. He goes to the trainer next month to be started under saddle...can't wait to get him out on the trails! Dawn in East Texas (and Epic Sundance - who's packing a little *too* much substance right now - easy keeper!) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
