Re: [RC] Height of horses - rides2far@xxxxxxxxAlso, what about the preferences of the riders? Very few riders have posted that they actually *prefer* shorter horses...most want something 15.0h or more, and that seems to be the prevailing attitude >>among riders that I've heard express opinions in person. Maybe there would be more 14.1h horses on this list if riders weren't selecting for >>taller horses? Just a thought... Kaboot is 14.2. Ben Amil is 14.2 My new horse, Wiefear (Weedy) I just bought is 14.1. He looks absolutely *tiny* even to me. But heck, he's very well bred for endurance. His dam did 1600 top 10 racing miles. Sire did 50's. He's sweepstakes. He's built so neat, was raised right. I thought, what the heck, somebody needs to try to make him an endurance horse and who better than somebody 5' tall? He can't possibly be any smaller for me than a 15 hand Arab is for a 6' person. I don't blame any tall person for wanting to have a barrel big enough to not have leg hanging down below. I've ridden a tiny pony with not enough barrel and you feel like you're tipping. I think when I got Kaboot I was trying to find myself a Drubin. When I bought Weedy I was looking for my "Super". Somehow I've gotten in the habit of emulating Stagg. >g< Angie ________________________________________________________________ The best thing to hit the Internet in years - Juno SpeedBand!
