Re: [RC] Rider Cards - rides2farWhen I was preparing my talk for the National Convention I had a poll where I asked riders a lot of pretty random questions. One was "do you keep your rider cards"? Practically 100% answered "Yes". When I asked what they did with it most said, "Put it in a drawer, or file". I suggested at the time that places like Sport Tack would do well to offer free rider cards to a ride manager if they put their ad at the top. You'd always know where to go find their phone number or website. I use my rider card to go back and see what my recovery times were. If my horse is off at a ride I'll go back and look at past cards to see if the vet thought he saw something on that leg at a previous ride. I also like to figure my mph on different loops to see if I'm pacing evenly. I do like to keep my ride cards. If they started taking them up and keeping them I'd probably start copying the info off before giving it up. Don't think they'd like mine from this weekend. I left home with no baggies and use my ride card baggie for my sandwich. Card got wet. Laid it on the side of the truck during a vet check to dry. It fell off into a pool of water in the back of the truck. Roger was threatening to give me a time penalty for the mess. Ended up getting a new card so now for this ride I have pieces of a card in a baggie for the first 1/2, and a good card for the last. I will keep both though. One more thing. Nancy Gooch designed a new ride card for the SE. Don't know if it's caught on in other areas yet. I like it. It makes it easier to look across the columns and compare scores from one check to the next. Angie Not the quarry but the chase. Not the trophy but the race. ________________________________________________________________ The best thing to hit the Internet in years - Juno SpeedBand! Surf the Web up to FIVE TIMES FASTER!
