[RC] Could have been a bad accident - rides2far

What can I do about the nut on my trailer hitch ball loosening up? Back
in about 1990 I was at a ride and sat down on the ground by the fire,
glanced over at my truck and from that angle saw the nut was at the very
bottom of the threads, almost off. Ever since then I check often. It
hadn't budged in years but I still checked and had checked recently. Last
week we hauled 2 loads of hay with 109 bales on a trailer. When I was
directing the guy backing the trailer I saw the ball tilt and when I
checked the nut was very loose again. I think we have a lock washer on
it. I tried to find out once if there was a ball with a cotter pin hole
in the bottom for safety but never found such.

I also check the cotter pin on the hitch attachment. I have a fear of
somebody taking that off at a rest stop and it taking awhile for it to
work out.

P.S. I put the "lock tite" in the screw hole on my saddle and it still
loosened up during the ride. Tom says that means I'm screwed...but I
think I'll try super glue before I accept that fate. :-P
