I would worry more about the bars that hold hitches in the recievers
breaking or more likely the pins that go through these bars that keep
them in place dropping out than the actual ball neck breaking. I've
known more than one person discover that the pin that holds the bar in
place missing. I wouldn't take much for the bar to work out and the
whole hitch to come out of the reciever.
As Cheryl suggested always do a check before you take off.
