Hello, Having horses w/ sweet itch i paid particular interest
to the discussion on Flax Seed/Sweet Itch. Thru the Archives i found that
there are many remedies besides Flax Seed to solve the problem. There was
mention of Spot-On, Larry's Fly Spray, Autan 'Calmastick, Bay Repel (not
available in the USA), Liquid Deet, Desert Essence Skin Saver Spray, Witch
Hazel, Quitt, Insecticide Cow Ear Tags, Cider Vinegar and Water 50/50, A Home
Remedy of 1 oz. Triple Antibiotic Cream, 2 oz. Hydrocortisone, 2-3 oz Clear Itch
Lotion, 2-3 oz Caladryl Clear Itch Lotion and my own concoction not mentioned of
Water, Hydroxide Peroxide and Baby Oil, plus the Flax Seed/Ground Flax Seed/Flax
Seed Gel Tabs. Did i forget or miss any? Wow...whats one supposed to
do? Things in life should be simple, but something like this and most
other things get complicated because what seems to work for one horse doesn't
work for all and i guess its just trial and error. My questions
are...Besides helping prevent Sweet Itch and providing Oil, what
nutritional value is there in Flax Seed/Gel Tabs? And while i'm on
questions...What nutritional value is there to Cottonseed Meal? Thank you
anyone for providing answers to these questions. tom
