Years ago, back in the 80's, Chino Hills State Park was just forming and I
was one of the original Mounted Assistance Unit volunteers. It is a fabulous
place to ride and it soon became the favorite spot for the bicycle crowd also.
We formed the MAU for horse riders and an MAU for cyclists. We jointly
worked on trail maintenance, held pancake breakfasts and we all became good
friends. The horse/bicycle thing worked out just fine. In fact, I think they
both were good for each other as far as the trails are concerned. The bikes make
ruts... the horses flattened the ruts... the bikes flattened the holes made by
horse hooves... you get the picture.
