Re: [RC] [RC] ? Roundup Weed Control in the Pasture - RDCARRIEYou might be better off to wait till spring, and use a herbicide on the whole pasture. Don't mow before spraying - you want a lot of weed surface area present to absorb the herbicide. We bought 10 acres that was a mix of about 50% grass, 50% weeds in the front, and about 90% weeds in the back. We sprayed the whole area this past spring - now we have 99% dense grass in front, and about 90% grass in back. The weeds that are resprouting in the back are sweetgum saplings and blackberry vines, both of which are hard to kill. We'll spray again this fall or next spring. We used a mix of Remedy and Grazon on our pasture (East Texas). Labels on both of those chemicals said that there was no need to remove the horses, but we did anyway for a couple of weeks (sprayed half the field, waited a couple of weeks, then moved the horses to that area and sprayed the other half). Good luck! Dawn in East Texas =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
