Terry, I need to correct your statement about the FnE seat being similar to the ReactorPanel seat. RPs come in 11 different models, and riders have chosen a variety of them for endurance competition--from all purpose to dressage to endurance. You can see the seat differences here: <http://reactorpanel.com/images/saddleprofiles.gif>

Any of those seats/flaps are customizable, and the tree sizes come in 1/4 inch increments.

As covered in the recent Equus and Horse Illustrated alternative saddle articles, the flexible panel systems, when properly fitted, are a boon to horses. I applaud the choices available to today's riders, whether they prefer Western or English seats, something can be found to make both happy with no compromises. For that matter, I am pleased as can be when ANY saddle fits both horse and rider (not just now, but 6 months from now, in and out of work).

The seat on the Free-n-Easy is very similar to the Reactor Panel, which some people like, but some people aren't comfortable in it. The American-Flex saddles offer 20 different seat styles. Most endurance friendly are the deep seat "Cutback" (which I have been riding for nearly 1,000 miles) or the "Endurance Lite," which has a flatter seat. The Cutback is very secure and balanced and with the extra-padded seat (available in two sizes), it doesn't even need a sheepskin. All the AF saddles are now being shipped with Carbon trees, which makes them about 4 pounds lighter than any of the other panel saddles on the market.
