I'm sure ya'll aren't going to believe this but I use no fly spray at
home down here in FL. We have very few bugs at my place. The deer fly
we have in the woods - nothing seems to help excpet out running them
since the seem to be concentrated in spots. I do use a fly mask when I
in the summer down here since my ding bat Ayrrrrrrrrrrab will go
bonkers if a fly comes within two inches of his pretty little face and
try to rub it off on his leg while we are galloping down the trail.
Besides when it rains every afternoon, flyspray would do little good.
I do have a comfirmed mane rubber. She suggested trying the daily
wormer on him during the summer. That had some marginal effect. When we
put him on ground flax seed the mane rubbing got a lot better. He will
still do it a little, but this summer he has a mane and its nice an
full, not rubbed off.
At least on this horse it seems to help.
