Wimp ;-)! Wait till the females have their egg pouches and the whole
package is about 4 times bigger. Sept seems to be the big month for
these beggers - you ain't seen nothing yet!

Having moved from
CA..I was worried about Gators and snakes in Flordia..I have seen my
fair share of the snakes ( which don't bother me as long as I can trot
by fast ), and thank heaven I have not seen one gator!!!!!!!!
But I had heard about the spiders. The women I sometimes ride with
would say: "just wait till the spiders come out" and they would shreek
and laugh. Then add that the spiders had toenails...I thought I was
prepared...
Well they are VERY big and make very sticky webs and the forest here is
FULL of them..
I run the woods daily and on the single track trails I run with a stick
held out in front of me -it makes running real fun to hold a stick up
the whole time while looking for spider webs, plus deal with the heat
and humidity( often I am running in 105 degree heat index ). Believe
me, The webs of these spiders are horrible to have clinging to you, let
alone the spider riding along on your shoulder. And the spiders are not
even close to being pretty.. but they are pretty big :-0.
Now when I ride later in the day all those spiider webs have been
knocked down on the single tracks by my stick!!! Of course I ride much
further then I run, so later in the ride I again take up a stick and
trot on....
Oh the joys of training in the Flordia..
