Re: [RC] customer service (was US RIDER TOWING ROCKS) - Laney

I take my Taurus to my local Ford dealership for service and they, too, go above and beyond. I had it in last week and it had to stay overnight. Their courtesy driver came all the way out to the ranch where I work - probably 25 miles from the dealership- to pick me up when my car was ready. I always get a call a few days after from the manager of the service department (a woman) asking if I was pleased with the service.

Hummm, we always hear stories of how a dealership did not take good care of
a customer etc. etc. I live in a town with the population of under 5500. We
have dealerships for all three of the major truck makers. When we bought our
truck (2001 F350 loaded) , we did NOT buy locally, but we take the truck to
the dealership for ALL oil changes etc. (they still treat us as if we bought
it there) I have a good relationship with the service department. Well, our
F150 (AKA the little truck) was making a "noise". We took it in, and of
course, it would not make the noise, and they found nothing wrong. (one
always feels better when they get to the doctors office, and the horse is
often 'healed' when the vet arrives) They hooked it to the diagnostics, they
ran it for so long in the parking lot, it ran out of gas, and they had to
put $20 worth in it and they test drove it....nothing wrong. Total bill
when I picked it up was $20 for the gas. I then drove about 3 miles, and it
died. Called the service dept., and they were out to me in about 20 min.
with a mechanic. They figured out what it was (now that it finally broke,
and was not just a noise that they never did hear), and called a tow truck,
offered me a ride home, and the truck will be done Monday.

Like Merryben, I had service above and beyond what I expected.
Unfortunately, it seems rare these days, to have that sort of service. I
know that most dealerships will not go above and beyond 'the call of duty'
to take care of a customer. And then if they do, they will pay for it out of
their pockets. Maybe this is just another advantage to be living in a
smaller town where we are known by name when they see us, not by a name on a
work order. But, good service from those evil "dealerships" is still
happening, and one can still get a big ol' truck and trailer towed down off
a mountain with a road side assistance program that does what is said it
would do when you joined.

Everyone is quick to post when they have a complaint on something, so I just
wanted to join Merryben in letting folks know when things go right. If you
ever need a Ford dealer when hauling near Decatur Texas, contact me first to
house your horses, and then contact Karl Klemmet Ford, and ask for James in
service. He will take care of y'all........
