Keep in mind that most Arabians are not DNA tested -- DNA tests are only required on foals of 2002 later, and horses that produced same. I bet the odds of being able to identify your mare via DNA are slim, even if the DNA profile is unique to a specific horse, which I suspect it is not. They also won't let you register the resulting foal as a half-Arabian if you tell them the mare is an unregistered purebred -- apparently "that's cheating". How do I know? I bought an unregistered gelding from a forced sale (the breeder died suddenly; her uninvolved brother and elderly parents suddenly had 20-some un-halter-broken horses) with the assurance that he was registerable. When he did not blood type to the purported sire, and we could not identify another possible sire on the farm, we were not allowed to register him as a partbred. Finally, even if you figure out "who" your mare is, you won't necessarily be able to get papers on her. (Another rescue story elided... but the romance of fixing horses other people threw away finally wore off, let me tell you. *wry grin*) Good luck!
