Re: [RC] We survived Hurricane Charley - Truman Prevatt

The 40 miles from me to you makes a big difference. I had one or two little showers and a period of about 20 minutes of 20 or so mph winds. The weather has been worse today than yesterday. I want to ride this morning but got rained out.

The actual error in the forecast was actually small. If it had been coming straight on perpendicular to the coast it would have been no more than 20 miles or so. But coming almost parallel to the coast the small turn to the right ended up being about 150 miles.

The storm did make us clean up a lot of things that needed to be cleaned up.

We are back and are cleaning up.  Right now we are getting the rogue storms that come from a hurricane but I rather have a big mess than no house.  My son who is in Afganistan learned of a direct hit to Tampa, he emailed me several times and was very worried........ I thought it was cute, he is in Afganistan and he is worried about me.  Emailed him back and told him everyone is ok.

I spoke to Debbie Parsons last night and this morning.  She is fine and all animals are doing well.  Her house is somewhat of a disaster inside due to move things around for protection.  She even cleaned out her laundry room, washer, dryer and all to keep her young baby and mom in it.  Last heard Debbie was gonna get hit hard after the turn but then I think she caught the outer walls.  We just got rain and normal wind problems and I suppose Truman got the same.  As for my brother and his family, he has a house on clearwater beach and evacuated to Lakeland to get out of the hurricane, they were all ready prepared to loose everything.  Little did he know they headed right into the path of the hurricane.  The bad part most people that evacuated went to where the hurricane was.  Truman is right, this is my 2nd and you never move until you see what happens over Cuba.   Now we will be watching to see what the Tropical Storm #5 is doing out there in the Atlantic.   I am happy to say we will see you all out on the trail again this year.

Hey Howard.  Where are ya bud...........
