Re: [RC] re: hives - Chris PausDex is good and will clear up the hives. however, it is a steroid and is to be used for the short term. Under long term use, like any steroid, it can cause som real problems. Benadryl is pretty innocuous and less likely to cause any adverse reactions. I'll use Dex in a crisis, like last month when my grandson left the gate unlocked and my 21 YO stallion got in with the riding horses. It ended in a chase and kicking match, with the old man getting walloped badly in the neck by Star. He couldn't breathe because of the swelling. Dex helped him immesely and took down the swelling so he could breathe again. Poor old boy!
