Re: [RC] Tevis post on vet checks - rides2farSorry, I just realized I mistyped my email address, the correct address is mbennett_pcr@xxxxxxxxxxx Well...I sent this to the wrong address the other day, then just gave up on ya but since people are still talking about it here's what I sent. :-) ******************************************************* Anyway, my question is how to best handle checks like Tevis where as soon as you P&R you go to the vet. My horse got a C+ on gut sounds and a 44/40 CRI. When I came back through for a re-check, he had the chance to eat and drink and his gut sounds were a B+ but his pulse was moving between 52 and 60, so we were pulled. I don't know that going to the vet immediately caused your problems. All our rides are done like that where we go straight to the vets. I get in there as quick as I can. 44/40 CRI would be considered *excellent*...but it jumping up to 52/60 later would definately make the alarm bells go off. Did you by any chance happen to give electrolytes just before leaving? Wonder if he could have had a cut on his mouth and salt got in it or something...but I would think that would have been a steady high, not a 52/60. Sounds like there was just a problem that day. Lucky you had an exit check. Angie ________________________________________________________________ The best thing to hit the Internet in years - Juno SpeedBand! Surf the Web up to FIVE TIMES FASTER!
