[RC] Propping & treeless saddles - Ridecamp GuestPlease Reply to: Mary mkornwolf@xxxxxxxxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== You can get away with crooked riding position in a treed saddle but it could show up on your horse as dry spots, white hairs or uneven muscle development along the back & neck. My term for this is "propping." When I first started riding in a treeless Ansur saddle, it would slip to one side since I tended to "prop" myself with more weight on one leg than the other. After a month of riding in the treeless saddle, my riding posture improved and the saddle stopped slipping sideways! On an all-day training ride last weekend, I used the Ansur on a second horse we're training for his 1st 50 and had to use a spare Abetta on my main horse who's been used to treeless. Even though the Abetta fit him well, you could see the difference in shorter gait and lack of freedom of shoulder movement. I wish I'd had the $$ to get Becky Siler's used Ansur when she'd offered it to me earlier this year! Will never buy a treed saddle again...Mary in VA =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
