[RC] Rules about the flag - k s swigart

Angie said:

There's lots of rules about our flag we don't know
or follow but maybe we should.

One of them is that it should not be worn (except as a small lapel pin
or by military, police, firemen as a patch) or part of any clothing.:)
Exact rule below.

Putting the flag on the hat at all was a "violation" of the "flag code."
However, it has been a long time since virtually anybody has followed
THAT rule (although wearing the flag, like wearing advertising, is
another one of those things that _I_ find extremely tacky :)).

All those stars and stripes helmets that USET team members wear is a
violation of the flag code, as is Heather Reynolds shirt that is in the
pictures of her at Tevis last year.

So, yeah, it has been a long time since virtually anybody has followed
it. :)

Orange County, Calif

(PUBLIC LAW 94 - 344)

Section:

(j) No part of the flag should ever be used as a costume or athletic
uniform. However, a flag patch may be affixed to the uniform of military
personnel, firemen, policemen, and members of patriotic organizations.
The flag represents a living country and is itself considered a living
thing. Therefore, the lapel flag pin being a replica, should be worn on
the left lapel near the heart.
