Re: [RC] Strongid C / Daily Wormers - Jody Rogers-ButtramHi,
I personally have not used it and this is why:
Debra Ivey used it back when it first came out on Vali. Vali was always a very thin horse, wouldn't eat much at home and all that. But of course she still was an outstanding endurance horse! So, she tried it on her, after being on it for several months, and Debbie please correct me if I am relaying this story wrong, but she started to have some type of metabolic problem with her at rides. She had bloodwork done and guess what, the constant use of a small amount of poison in her system was causing liver damage. Now, in a horse that is doing "normal stress sports" it may not be noticed. But in an endurance horse, it can for sure cause a problem. She took her off the wormer, the horse bounced right back and was fine. So, I am never used it because of this. I just have a very strict worming program (4 weeks) and won't let a different horse set foot on the place. (Don't know their worming program). I have had
them checked and each time they are clean. So, if the traditional worming works, then I am going to stay with it.
And that's all I have to say on that. :)
