[RC] Amanda--Doncaster Renegade - Ridecamp GuestPlease Reply to: Deb Ambrose mkkgs@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== Hi, Amanda, Go and you shall have fun. Angie has in the past posted a real encouraging and concise description of how to get through the vet check by yourself--I find that grouping everything I need within reach, but out of reach of the horse has helped. Someone will always happen by you can ask to hold him if you need to use the facilities, put the saddle back on, etc. I would say: Start after the main rush. Breathe deep, and keep your center soft to stay calm, and help your boy stay calm. Chuckle out loud, enjoy every moment of your first few exciting miles. Don't be afraid to walk, then trot, especially if your horse does have a fast walk. Enjoy yourself thoroughly. You'll only have one first ride. I'm betting you'll do great. A healthy, happy horse and rider team should be your goal. Don't forget to take a deep breath, square your shoulders and relax every few minutes, or every time you feel yourself tensing or hunching forward. Have a great time.
