[RC] yearling will not shed out - Ridecamp GuestPlease Reply to: Erin Drebis ecdrebis@xxxxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== I have a yearling Arabian gelding that will not shed out. He has been on a daily dewormer since he was old enough to eat grain and has been wormed with ivermectin at the appropriate intervals. With in the past two weeks he has been wormed for tapes and received a 5-day purge worm. He receives proper nutrition for his age/activity level and is at a good weight and is coat is shiney, just really furry. He started shedding when my other horses began shedding, but he never completely shedded out. To this day when I curry him he does shed some hair however he continues to look like a wooly mammoth - even when the weather was close to 100 degrees. He does sweat when it is hot. A friend suggested checking his thyroid. Does anyone have any suggestions or had any experience with this? The vet has looked at him and said worm him-that is when I tried the purge wormer, even though he has been on a regular deworming schedule since birth. Thanks in advance for any ideas.
