Re: [RC] Tevis:What happened to Julie Suhr? - Barbara WhiteThe ride starts at Robie Park; Julie pulled at Robie POINT, a spot 1.5 miles from the finish. Tarrah, her horse, was in excellent shape, but Julie was physically spent. She has an iron will and would have crawled to the finish if she could have. In her heart, I am sure she rode the entire trail she loved again. She enjoyed the exhilaration of the stampede start of 245 horses, the beauty of the sun rising over Lake Tahoe, the glorious wildflower display in Granite Chief, the cooling waters in the river under the swinging bridge, and the joy of most of her family there at Bath Road before Foresthill cheering her on. Her riding partner from Foresthill in, Lori Stewart, wanted to stay with her at Robie Point. Julie insisted that Lori ride in for her buckle, which she did, and then Lori alerted the family that Julie and Tarrah needed to be picked up. Julie is in great shape today, grateful for the joy she experienced and grateful to her family, Tarrah, and crew who helped make her dream almost come true.
