Re: [RC] [RC] Flat croup ?s - Ridecamp GuestPlease Reply to: Nicole z_arabs@xxxxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== My dressage instructor, years ago, said that the reason she did not like Arabs was because they never seemed to get their hocks under themselves. They always had their rear legs trailing out behind. << That's an extremely common stereotype of Arabians. It, of course, stems from all the Arabians that are bred for level hips in order to acheive the "tabletop topline" by breeders who see only the outline of the horse and are clueless about structure and form to function (or just don't care). Another source of that stereotype is the way EP/Park horses are trained and shown. Cranking up the front end, hollowing the back, and bouncing on the kidneys does tend to create horses that leave their hindquarters somewhere way out behind them. Check out just about ANY photo of an EP/CEP/Park Arabian in the glossy mags. ~Nicole =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
