RE: [RC] [RC] seat pads - Trail PalNot that I've done endurance distances, but I used to condition in the hills and washes of Sunland (Southern California). I had a black synthetic saddle - to protect the horse, I used a shaped pad, and to protect me, I used a real wool (sheephide) cover. The wool is actually much cooler in the heat, and nice and soft. Mine had no seams and was basically a triangle - narrow in front, wide in back, so none of it was under my legs or knees. Another thing I liked was wool (sheephide) tubes that fit over the stirrup leathers - it was a little bulky, but once broken in, really cushioned my shins. I don't know how any of it would work in the rain - rain was rare enough that I didn't ride in it. I used to ride in a friend's saddle, with a gel seat cushion. I thought it was hotter, and the cover was a little "too" grippy to move easily in the saddle. my two cents Rosalie ===== Rosalie Marley Ride the Tiger! http://TigerHorseFarms.com __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
