[RC] Terry's Warner Springs Wonder Ride - Steph TeeterThe Perfect Ride. This may have been the prettiest trail I've ridden - absolutely beautiful. Along the ridge of the Pacific Crest Trail (San Diego county), through shaded grottos with huge oaks, across meadows with cows dotting the hillsides. Good footing - mostly sandy/granitic soil, soft and sweet smelling through the creeks. Very lovely. Plus we were blessed with wonderful weather - into the mid 70's during the day, a good breeze in the afternoon to keep it from feeling too hot, bright sunshine all day. Snacks, drinks and lunch at all the vetchecks, hay and bran mash for the horses. Smiling volunteers at checkpoints and road crossings with drinks, fruit, cookies. Just amazing. 90+ started the LD, and around 80 started the 50. John and I rode slowly all day, finishing in the top 60 :) John's horse Benji is only 7, and still building a base so John wanted to come in slowly, but I gave Santini the reins at 40 miles and let him fly home. What a thrill... Banquet dinner and awards afterwards, followed by a hosted party at the hot springs pool. Did I say this was the Perfect Ride ?? Thank you Terry!
