I just received a call from ride manager John Collier.  The Tour de
Washooooooo is officially canceled.  He intends to reschedule sometime in
late August.  He will hang on to all ride entries and roll them over to the
August date.

As I look out my window this AM, Washoe Vally is clear of smoke.  The fire
is raging up on the mountain and the smoke is heading up the mountain.

The wind will pick up this afternoon and the smoke will most likely head
back to the valley.  This is likely to cause HWY 395 to close again.

So, the Tour de WAshoooooooooo is officially canceled.

Ericka -- I don't think the ride is going to happen, but please check with
RM to be sure.

Currently, Hwy 395 is CLOSED, and the fire is zero percent contained and
completely out of control as it heads north towards Franktown thru Washoe

The news has told people to stay inside, and when driving keep their
windows up.  The smoke is a health hazard.  Traffic is being rerouted thru
Geiger Grade and Virginia City and it is taking hours to get around.

This fire caused the evacuation of the State Capitol in Carson City
yesterday, and has resulted in the loss of at least 20 homes.
