According to the "Update on Equine Health" section in my latest Hunter
& Sport Horse magazine:
"Veterinary research now indicates that a
medication ordinarily used to treat people with muscle cell calcium
metabolism problems could provide relief for horses which suffer from tying
up. The drug, dantrolene, has proven effective in preventing and treating
episodes of Recurrent Exertional Rhabadomyolysis (tying up) in
equines."
