RE: [RC] [RC] round pen - Christina McCarthy

How do you get a horse to just walk in the round pen? My horse immediately turns and walks to me and the only way to get him to go forward around the pen is using the whip to the point he is galloping madly around the ring (I didn't do this). Someone was helping me with this dilemma and I was shocked at the amount on force she used to get him on the rail. I was very surprised also how upset he became; when I round penned him he did the circles and turned when I wanted him to and then he came to me. It was gently done. Anyway, any advice would be greatly appreciated!
