[RC] malicious "spooking" - Jena WilliamsYou are the only one who could tell if it was out of spite or a real spook. If I am not riding them, I give them the benefit of the doubt, since most Arabs are smart but not malicious. When riding I can feel the difference between "Ah! there is a bear! oops, it was a rock..." and "goin' along hmm you feel a little sloppy to the left and I am pissed off so.. WEEEEEE!" I ride arabs because even though they spook I have never met one that would do that to me. Refuse to go, yes. argue with me, yes. buck when they fight with me, yes. Look for an opportunity to throw me when I don't expect it, no.Now, you said your horse may have been tired. I know when my guy gets emotionally or physically tired, or sore from our saddle saddle search, he gets spookier. Makes sense. When I get tired I get stupid, clumsy, cranky, and whiney. (yeah, you don't want to ride next to me my first 100) Maybe your horse is doing the same. In that case punishment for the spooks will not do any good, only degrade his trust in you.
