RE: [RC] [RC] trailer shopping and questions - Nancy MittsChris,One of the most important things I advise people to consider when trailer shopping is axle weight rating (which also determines brake size), wheels and tires. The 3500# axles have a brake that is 2 inches smaller in diameter than the 5200#. In reality a 3500 # axle stops 3500 #'s and a 5200# stops 5200#'s. In looking at the specs for these trailers, the 2 & 3 horse has the same size brakes. Take the 2 horse rated for 7000#. The trailer at 4800 & 2- 1200 horses is already at 7200#. We're not talking weight capacity of the overall rig, that's still okay because part of that load is carried on the truck. But by the time you get all your stuff in there, the trailer brakes wouldn't be enough for itto stop itself. The biggest complaint we hear is from people who can't get their rig stopped. The trailer shouldn't "push" the truck, even if you have enough truck to stop it. The spec list also doesn't give the weight rating for the standard tires. From what I've seen and heard from customers, plan to upgrade the tires. Road Trip! Haven't done one of those for years just for fun. It looks like a good buy for the money and has what I need. _________________________________________________________________ MSN 9 Dial-up Internet Access helps fight spam and pop-ups ? now 2 months FREE! http://join.msn.click-url.com/go/onm00200361ave/direct/01/ =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
