RE: [RC] RE: AHA Letter/Three digits--Today's history trivia - Mcgann, Barbara

AHA! Yes, thats probably true. We moved to Idaho in 1982. I always thought
the numbers were assigned in 75-76 somewhere in there. Thanks for clearing
that up for me.

Heidi,

I agree with your analysis of the early numbering, but I'm wondering if
it went by region? My number 840 is right between Sue Nance (Kelly) and
Gene Nance which makes sense as M is between K and N, BUT I was in a
different region at that time...lived in Utah and was in the Mountain
Region. So maybe Joe went alphabetical with all of the then current
members regardless of region??

I think maybe the numbering system is younger than you think. I was just
realizing that Gene Nance moved to the NW in about 1978 or 1979, so the
numbering didn't start until after that. In fact, I don't think it
started until I was on the board in the early '80s (Joe, pipe up any time
here!) because I can remember going through a lot of the agonies of
getting the organization on a computerized system when I was on the board.
Can't remember the exact year I first served on the board, but it was
later than 1981. So yeah, you were riding in the Mountain region as an
AERC member long before you came to the NW, but methinks you were already
in the NW when we finally got assigned numbers.

Heidi
