Re: [RC] Virus - Dyane Smith


To clarify, I never meant that I think either of these two, or any of the
half dozen other ridecampers with virus attachments, originated the e-mail.
But, I hadn't realized that it could have come from anyone with the
addresses in their computer.  Could they somehow be generated by someone who
has my address list in their computer?  I guess I don't really understand
how any of this works.  Fortunately, my virus protection works, but what a
drag.

That doesn't necessarily mean that the virus email came from Maryben or
ridecamp-owner.  The way the viruses work is that they steal email
addresses from someone's computer address book, then "fake" the return
address when the new virus email goes out.  So if anyone who receives
ridecamp list mail (or otherwise has Maryben's or ridecamp-owner email
addresses in their computer) could be the one from where the virus

originated.
