Re: [RC] last call: Letter to AHA - Bette LamoreHi SharonThat is a very good point. Someone else just emailed me and stated that she felt that more people didn't sign because they ride endurance and did not renew due to the lack of reason to do so-- not much support of endurance, I guess. I believe people who were AHA should sign as well and put their old number (put ex-AHA number or former member or just leave blank. I think that is an equally strong statement that they are NOT members because there is no incentive to be one. I will point that out to Jim as a postscript observation-- not to tamper with the main body of the letter. So please, all you Arabian owners, feel free to sign with or without a current AHA membership. Thanks Bette Postscript: I would also like to quote you without mentioning your name in my postscript-- you have brought out valuable points. Why should AHA care about hearing from people who don't belong to their organization? Or should I say, people who don't know an AHA number from a registration number? Are these people even members, or are they under the mistaken impression that since the horse is registered, that means they (the owners) are automatically eligible for the benefits? I find that if you wish to make changes, you must be educated as to what and why you want. Perhaps these people who signed your petition would go back and enter their AHA MEMBERSHIP numbers before you send your letter in to AHA. Best of luck, I agree with your letter, and have felt that way for years. I run into the same attitude with Arabian horse clubs. They offer year end awards for show people, but until they are educated, don't offer awards for Endurance/Competitive Trail riders. Why should I pay membership fees if I'm not going to be given the same consideration as other Arabian owners? I have signed your letter AND included MY AHA number. -- Bette Lamore Whispering Oaks Arabians Home of Bunny and 16.2h TLA Halynov who lives on through his legacy Hal's Riverdance! http://www.arabiansporthorse.com Always remember: "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away."
