A friend just called and said that 9 horses just died in San Bernardino County from West Nile. Anyone know the facts?
Our local San Bernardino paper had an article on this today. It said: "Of the 8 horses with confirmed infections, at least five had been euthanized as of Friday, state health officials said." The paper quoted a veterinarian who had two West Nile victims as patients. One of the horses had been vaccinated and is now doing well and will recover. The other horse was unvaccinated and by the time the vet got to him, he had lost the use of his hind legs and was in an advanced stage and was euthanized.
