Re: [RC] Vit C question - our nutrition guru or anyone with theknow-how out there? - JL Thompson-----Original Message----- From: heidi@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Can't speak to the efficacy of the powder vs the ester C, but would certainly caution about feeding ANY form of C on a regular basis. It is worthwhile to use during short periods of stress and particularly helpful for short times in the face of viral infections, but if fed on a regular basis, it can inhibit the horse's own ability to manufacture it--NOT something one would want to do! Heidi --------------------------------- Heidi, That brings a question to my mind. Where my horse is boarded, there are several lovely orange trees. I feed my gelding at least 4-5 large oranges a day. Is this too much Vit C? Enough to cause the problem you describe above? He loves them so much, and here I thought I was giving him a very healthful treat. But I'll stop if it might be a problem :( Thank you! Jennifer =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
