Re: [RC] Ribs - heidiHow soon do you ride with bruised or green stick fracture to ribs? Do you wrap? I would appreciate suggestions as I don't want to stop riding and I did make a fast, hard dismount last Saturday. Not the kind I will repeat soon. Did this a year and a half ago myself, although the "dismount" was off of a tipping-over backhoe, not off of a horse. (Net result is just as painful, though... <g>) My situation is complicated by being asthmatic and being prone to bronchitis anyway, so I DON'T wrap--I need to keep those ribs as mobile as possible, and keep the air flow to the max. So my own approach was to take good pain meds and to stay as active as possible. I let the limitation be that I just didn't do anything that made the pain unbearable over the pain meds. You do need to know that there is truly nothing broken clear loose, to where you have points of ribs puncturing things. But otherwise, my own feeling is to just try not to get in harm's way where you might repeat the injury (and really bust 'em before they are fully healed), but otherwise to be as "business as usual" as possible.
