Re: [RC] Ground Control Shoes - Ridecamp GuestPlease Reply to: Mary Kornwolf mkornwolf@xxxxxxxxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== I've got both my horses in their 1st set of GC. So far so good! My friend Wendy Mancini from NJ has been using them on her amazing QH "Old Meadow Jim" for the past 2 years. His success inspired me to try them on my 1/2 QH Shiloh - he's kinda flat-footed and we usually keep him in wedge pads, but those can make the shoe easier to pull loose, as happened at Biltmore when he lost both fronts in the 1st 40 miles. Jim has completed 100's of AERC miles in these shoes and his feet look great (Wendy took time to show me how they fit while we were at Biltmore together - the frog protector acts as a protective pad and stimulates frog growth). The shoes are only about $5 each if ordered through a farrier and have more "lift" than a steel shoe, at least 1/2". I've tried to tell the difference at faster gaits on pavement, gravel and wet grass and haven't expeienced any slipping problems. It's weird to hear slap slap instead of clop clop on pavement and it seems the heel ends flap a bit, but the real test won't come until Sept when I try them out in competition. Will post then! =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
