Re: [RC] Battlecreek 25/50 West Region - TypeF \(Jackie Floyd\)
You can count me in for at least the 25 ... just
haven't got my form filled out yet! Can't decide whether to take the new horse
or the seasoned horse for the 50. But I'm planning on coming. Sounds like a nice
ride!
Shelley Nelson (ride manager) says she has less than 20 riders signed up
so far. The ride date is July 17th. This is a new ride, although
Shelley has been managing the Whiskeytown Chaser the last few years, and she
puts on a great event. C'mon, let's go!!
General ride information
Nestled in a mountain valley along
Battle Creek, the ride camp has plenty of room for 75-100 riders and plenty
of water for the horses. The ride is over logging roads with relatively flat
grades and good footing and goes from 4000 ft. elevation at camp to
6200 ft. at the highest point on the route. There are spectacular
views along the route of nearby Mount Lassen and several other mountain
peaks.
The entire ride is on private land in Shasta County and
locked gates control access. the main route to the ride is paved up to
the main gate, then turns into a dirt-surfaced two-lane road for the last
mile.
The closest town is nearby Shingletown, about 7 miles away,
and has fuel, groceries, and other services. (Redding, California is approx.
30 miles away. Call Shelley Nelson at 530/5223-3553 or
