If you get them just after they flower, but before the seeds mature, the plant has put all of its resources into growing, and won't have enough left in the roots to put it out again. I do want to note that at least some plants, cut in flower, can mature the seeds and spread them! (I know yellow star thistle -- Centaurea solstitialis -- works this way.) Recommendation for YST is to cut it before it flowers -- it can take three years to eliminate in this fashion. Or, cut it when you like, but make sure you remove the cuttings from the pasture. <http://www.invasivespecies.gov/profiles/yellowstar.shtml> Good luck, Ambar http://ambararabians.com/ =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
